Kendrick Harris has over 25 years’ experience spanning law, construction and real estate. Kendrick is an experienced cannabis and real estate investor, trusted counselor and advisor. He has represented real estate investors, developers, commercial and multifamily property owners, and lenders in complex transactions totaling over $600 million dollars. In 2019 Kendrick returned to transformed his family business - The Harris Group. The Harris Group has been repositioned into a holding company for investments within the Domestic Emerging Markets (DEM). DEMs refer to people, places, or business enterprises with growth potential that face capital constraints due to systemic undervaluation as a result of imperfect market information. These markets include ethnic and women owned firms, urban and rural communities, companies that serve low-to-moderate-income populations, and other small- and medium-sized businesses. Kendrick began his legal career with the New York State Attorney General’s Office within the Real Estate Finance and Investor Protection bureaus where he oversaw the regulation of the sales of real estate securities, including cooperative interests in realty, syndications and intrastate offerings. Before founding his own firm, Mr. Harris worked as a senior associate at a boutique affordable housing law firm, where he focused his practice in the area of affordable housing and community development, non-profit law and governance, and general real estate law. Prior to that, Mr. Harris worked for the largest WMBE transactional law firm in the country, providing advice on a wide range of real estate transactions, capital markets, and finance matters, including the issuance of debt, acquisitions, dispositions, leasing and financing transactions. Prior to practicing law, Kendrick served as the Business Development Manager for TDX Construction, a middle market construction management firm with over $200 million in annual fees, in which he directed all operations for a $50 million government construction program. Kendrick has also served as Director of Operations of the Tax Incentive division of New York City’s Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD). As Director of Operations, Kendrick served as the primary manager for all office administrative, operational and resource functions. Kendrick was responsible for administering several of the cities most utilized and visible tax programs. He was responsible for implementing the division’s strategic management plan and managing the modernization and automation program, which reduced the organizations processing time by 30%. While no longer practicing law, Kendrick remains a licensed Real Estate Broker. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Real Estate Development and Finance from New York University’s Schack Institute of Real Estate, a Master’s of Science in Real Estate from Columbia University, a Master’s degree from Harvard University and Juris Doctor with a concentration in Real Estate from Hofstra University’s School of Law. In addition, he has served as the Secretary on the Real Property Law Committee while a member of the New York City Bar Association. He also served on the Urban Land Institute (ULI) NY Housing Council. Kendrick has also served a combined 10 years in the United States Air Force, which included both active and reserve duty. While on active duty in the Air Force, Kendrick earned his Master’s degree in Government from Harvard University. He served as the Deputy Branch Chief of Program Plans and Integration at the Electronic Systems Center Hanscom Air Force Base, MA. From July 2002 to June 2005 he served as the Deputy Chief of the Global Advanced Development and Technology integrated product team. In each capacity, Kendrick was recognized for outstanding performance earning an Air Force Commendation Medal and numerous other awards for superior service including winning the NAACP’s Roy Wilkins Award for military service in 2003. In addition to serving on the boards of Brightpoint Health, and Hudson River Health Care, Kendrick is also a frequent speaker and lecturer where he speaks on topics such as small business development and financing, cannabis investing, collaborative real estate investing, affordable housing, leadership, military history, and career planning.
